Perlis

This is the smallest and most northerly Malaysian state.  Its economy is mainly agrarian, with rubber and sugar as the main crops in addition to fruit.  Its rural scenery, with its rolling carpet of green padi fields, is punctuated by rounded limestone hills.

Kangar, the state capital is a small rustic town surrounded by padi fields and trading mostly in seafood and agricultural produce.

Arau is Perlis royal town, about 10 km from Kangar.  We can see Fruit trees line the avenues between mostly traditional houses.  The Royal Palace fronts the main road with the Royal Mosque nearby.

On the rail border between Malaysia and Thailand is Padang Besar.  Shopping bargains is this bustling towns main attractions.  Its shop and stalls sell goods from both countries.
